I have family in the northern hemisphere, as well as fond memories of my own experiences in the snow. I have painted scenes perhaps in contrast to hot dusty days here, in an effort to connect across the seas. The bold checks, with their more modern play of background colours would be, for me, a nice fabric for a frock...a fitting reward for the hardworking person who cooks, cleans and hosts her welcomed guests.
