I have sourced from the internet photographs of vintage, home-made masks that have been tenderly made for overseas younger people in earlier decades. My images have been made with felt-tip pens and collaged coloured papers. Some of the inspiring masks have quite a ‘spooky’ energy, more so than the mass-produced items that we now have available. It would have been a sweet task to make a costume with what materials were available, with perhaps only novels and occasional movies for ideas…the earlier creativity is to be celebrated!
