Florals, florals and more florals

‘Florals? For spring…groundbreaking’, sorry Miranda Priestly we cannot agree with you there; some of our favourite pieces so far from the Spring 2015 Couture shows feature florals and we cannot get enough of it.

Floral prints or motifs will never go out of style in our books we enjoy seeing florals in all shapes and styles every season as much as we love designing new prints inspired by beautiful blooms.

Here are our favourite floral styles at the moment

print trend: Bold Botanicals

Bigger, bolder and slightly 50’s, statement botanicals are catching eye’s this season.

Largely graphic and tonal, predominantly featuring blues and sea greens with pops of coral or red, there is something mildly nostalgic about this print trend that may make you inclined to pick up that dusty ukulele and start strumming away like The King himself in a tropical getaway movie.

Lots of palms, floaty leaves, vintage Hawaiian and updated hibiscus tropicals, are being seen not only in fashion but interior trends as well.

The overarching feeling is that everyone is just keen to relax, kick back on a beach lounge someplace exotic, sipping an ice cold beer and listening to some sweet tunes…Bali anyone….?

Print Trend-Fractured

Limitless tessellation, cracked and rearranged. Slashed up and cut out. Collage, texture mixing and colour blocking.

Fashion prints Inspiration from retro Mexican motifs to the tiles of the Mediterranean.

It’s a mix a match affair all loosely arranged the idea of the mosaic. These fashion print trends may be fractured, but they’re anything but broken.

Katrantzou Fall 2014

Since Mary Katrantzou first collection in Fall 2009 we fell in love with her use of Digital printing and simple garment shapes. This season she steered away from her signature Digital Prints and instead focused on embroidery, beautiful fabrics and pleats. Although Digital Printing is nowhere to be seen we love the use of embroidery to create a pattern, the garments speak for themselves, a beautiful collection and a designer we will always be inspired by.

Rodarte meets Star Wars

As you can probably guess we are crazy about prints and printing here at Digital Fabrics, so when Fashion week begins we keep a sharp eye on the designers who add a little special printed elements to their designs. A few Designers we love to watch are Mara Hoffman, Libertine, creatures of the wind,Honor, J.crew and Lela Rose just to name a few. As we view the updates coming from New York fashion week, we spotted one Designer duo with a unique look at mixing pop culture with high fashion. Rodarte’s Latest was inspired by childhood nostalgia and these Star Wars inspired gowns took us right back to our own childhood. What do you think of these gowns?
